lift truck incidents continue to injure and take the lives of operators and other workers.
In Ontario, lift truck incidents continue to injure and take the lives of operators and other workers. To stop these injuries and fatalities from occurring, we need to understand why they happen and, more importantly, how to prevent them.
The purpose of the Lift Truck Operator (LTO) Safety Training program is to help Ontario workplaces and construction projects reduce and eliminate injuries and illnesses related to lift truck operations.
The training in this program is theory-based only. The employer is responsible for:
Providing additional training and evaluation on workplace-specific equipment and approved attachments
Ensuring that proper maintenance, repair, and inspection procedures are developed and enforced regularly
Maintaining continual safety supervision.

At IHSA we have always maintained a standard of excellence. We are proud of our role in helping to make Ontario one of the safest places in the world to work.
Our focus is on workers and keeping our promise to provide them with the tools to Work Safe for Life. As part of Ontario's health and safety system, we are recognized by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Transportation, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board as designated trainers and consultants. So, you can be sure that the training you get from IHSA meets regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
Safe Rigging Practices as well as load weight estimation and the importance of proper sling angles are also covered in order to give participants the skills needed to safely preform the job of Rigger/Signaler/Banksman
Have your workers trained and certified on the legislation for guardrails, cross-braces, tie-off points, platform material heights and when to have scaffolding professionally engineered so that you can be confident that they are safe.
The Heat Stress Awareness course is recommended for all workers that are at risk of heat exposure, and for their supervisors to complete.
This course provides students a basic understanding of fall protection systems and equipment regarding fit, selection and maintenance. It will cover relevant federal and provincial legislative requirements.
Working at heights training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion of an approved program.
