It is a system defined with unique Kernel (Microlithic Kernel) which is the core part of the Linux and consists of modular phases which makes it significant from other OS. It is written in C Programming language and assembly langauge.
It is created by Linus Torvalds in 1991 when he was a student at the University of Helsinki. Linux is also unique from other operating systems as it has no single owner, it is controlled by mutiple programmers and multi-licensed system.
