Our Mission
To provide quality services to reduce violence and abuse in our community. Respect is committed to the ongoing provision of high-quality family violence services. We emphasise the right of all people to live lives free from violence and abuse in all its forms.
Our History
Respect (formerly known as North Harbour Living Without Violence) is a community organisation based in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand. Founded in 1994, our main purpose is to facilitate respectful relationships. We do this by:
Offering perpetrators of violence education programmes (both in groups and individually). These programmes help them stop their use of violence and abuse and to have respectful, equal relationships.
Offering victims of abuse and/or violence support and education programmes (both in groups and individually). These programmes help people to recognise the signs (and effects) of abuse and violence and to live lives free of abuse and violence.
Helping children and teenagers who have experienced abuse and/or violence to deal with the effects of this violence in healthy ways.
Respect is committed to the ongoing provision of high-quality family violence services. We emphasise the right of all people to live lives free from violence and abuse in all its forms.
Our Vision
All People Live Free from violence and abuse
Respect works within an inter-agency framework to achieve maximum success in all programmes that we deliver. We recognise the importance of all agencies working to stop domestic violence and work appropriately with these agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Respect encourages an internal culture of openness, honesty, respect and ongoing reflective practice. We maintain good governance and management processes and recognise the diversity and integrity of all workers who contribute their expertise to Respect.
Respect stands against abuse and violence with all clients who we work with. We understand that our clients are capable of living lives free of abuse and violence and we work with clients to achieve this outcome. We support and acknowledge the right of all people to be treated without discrimination with regards to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or physical ability.
