Course Details

Every year in Canada workers are injured or killed because equipment, machinery or processes were not properly locked out. Employees servicing, maintaining, repairing, cleaning and replacing machinery or equipment may be exposed to serious physical harm or death if hazardous energy is not properly controlled.

Saskatchewan provincial legislation requires employers to identify existing or potential risks to the health and safety of their employees, and to reduce or control the identified risks. The purpose of lockout is to prevent the exposure to unexpected energization or start-up of machines and equipment, or the release of stored energy. Course content concentrates on identifying the hazards associated with uncontrolled energy and the proper methods of controlling that energy through a soundly developed and implemented lockout program.

This course content for the online and in classroom versions is the same.

These courses are designed referencing Saskatchewan provincial legislation, industry best practices and applicable standards. Participants must meet the mandatory 80% class performance standard on a written exam. Upon successful completion of the course a certificate and wallet card will be accessible to the student. Course participants receive a manual which includes the course content covered including excerpts of the applicable Saskatchewan provincial legislation.
