Course Details

Introduction:

Harness offers a one day Low Voltage Rescue with CPR course which covers all the skills and knowledge required to manage a casualty involved in and perform rescue from a live LV panel. It is also designed to provide individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • UETDRRF004 – Perform rescue from a live LV panel

  • HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

 

Learning Methods:

The mode of delivery for this course is face to face in a classroom environment as well as significant practical elements outside of the classroom. 

In the delivery of this course, our trainers focus on providing an individualised adult learning environment that considers the learner’s experience and employment history. 

Theory is presented in a supportive learner centered environment designed to provide functional theoretical knowledge that is directly applicable to real world tasks.

Learning materials provided include the Harness student handbook and participants will be advised in advance of attending the course if there are any materials to be provided by them.

The assessment for this course has been designed to assess the individual to the Australian Qualification Framework, relevant Training Package, Australian and Industry expectations, as well as Commonwealth and State Legislation. 
 

Course Content:

Throughout the Harness course our trainers will cover off the below operations ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both practical and theoretical elements. 

 

Prepare to perform rescue procedures from live LV panel

  • Instruction in hazards and risk control measures for specific work functions and work areas are identified and obtained. (This will include the risk assessment and control measures taken by the individual performing the rescue).

  • Electricity isolation point is identified and labelled where appropriate.

  • Tools and emergency equipment are checked for safety, functionality and placed in an accessible location to facilitate response and rescue according to established procedures.

 

Carry out rescue from live LV panel 

  • Workplace procedures and work instructions for controlling risk are followed 

  • Workplace procedures for accessing and isolating the LV panel and removing the victim, where necessary, from contract with live apparatus are followed 

  • Workplace procedures for applying CPR if required at the site and gaining access to treatment by a medical professional if necessary are followed 

  • The worksite is secured and entry controlled until appropriate authorities inspect and release the site 

 

Complete the LV panel rescue procedure 

  • Processes for reporting accidents and/or incidents to authorised personnel are confirmed in accordance with established procedures

 

Respond to an emergency situation 

  • Recognise an emergency situation

  • Identify, assess and minimise immediate hazards to health and safety of self and others

  • Assess the casualty and recognise the need for CPR

  • Seek assistance from emergency response services

 

Perform CPR procedures

  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with ARC guidelines

  • Display respectful behaviour towards casualty

  • Operate automated external defibrillator (AED) according to manufacturer's instructions

 

Communicate details of the incident

  • Accurately convey incident details to emergency response services

  • Report details of incident to workplace supervisor as appropriate

  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information in line with statutory and/or organisational policies
