M.A. (Economics)

This is postgraduate full time 2 year programme . It has aim to provide the student with specialised skill sets in different fields like micro, macroeconomics Public Finance, econometrics and Environmental economics. This course is spread over 4 semesters.

The course aims to provide detailed knowledge in the subjects of development economics , public finance, mathematical economics as well as econometrics etc. The course is designed in a way to enable the student to make use of the latest technology in order to perform their work quickly and efficiently. 

The program has been designed to offer eligible candidate’s specialization in a wide range of econometrics and mathematical skills, while at the same time build competence in a particular area of business.

Programme Objectives

• Enhance detailed knowledge in the field of mathematics, micro and macro economics, statistics, etc.
• Develop analytical thinking capacity to interpret various statistical, and general practices and use it for the process for improvement and knowledge enhancement.
• Allow them to study latest developments at national and international issues.
• Over the period, develop problem solving skills by understanding the practical problem, using the relevant analytical skills and give an appropriate solution
• Demonstrate effective communication skills through development of listening and writing skills.
• Develop scientific reasoning ability with the help appropriate technology in the field of banking, industry, institutions etc.
• Skill enhancement and to be part of a team, develop reflective thinking along with sensitivity towards group members, leading to development of leadership and team management skills.
• Develop an understanding of all fields in economics along with a conscious call towards sustainable development , public finance, behavioural economics etc related issues.

• A combination of innovative teaching methods, guest speakers, hands-on experience of new technology, interaction with subject experts provide the student with an ambience that help them flourish their talents in subject specific areas. It encourages team building activities and gives a glimpse of the real world. It helps the student to get a perspective and encourages logical thinking with flexibility of execution. Students allowed to choose their area of interest such as industry, banking, academics, public enterprise and non governmental organisation.
