The Executive Committee of Malaysian Mergers & Acquisitions Association (MMAA) welcomes you to our official website!
MMAA was established in 2005 as a non-profit organisation comprising individual professionals and companies involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities in Malaysia.
The Association serves to promote and facilitate interactions, collaborations and dialogues amongst practitioners and organisations involved in M&A activities in Malaysia as well as to promote best business pratices, ethics and professional standards in M&A activities in Malaysia. The Association also serves as a platform for consultation between and amongst government regulatory authorities and M&A practitioners and other regulatory organisations.
Value of announced M&A deals in Malaysia amounted to over USD7 billion in 2019 which represents a 49% decline as compared to deal values of USD13 billion in 2018, vastly impacted by US-China trade war & recession fears, seeing North Asian and European investors being more cautious but still keen investors though select industries in Malaysia may benefit instead. M&A will continue to be a value driver in today’s corporate world as corporations continue to seek new revenue drivers, cost efficiency enhancements, market share advance and product & services improvements.
The advent of the Southeast Asian Economic Community and constantly changing business dynamics further drives M&A in Malaysia and throughout the region. The growing importance of M&A in corporate Malaysia results in a greater need to improve M&A standards, practices & governance in order to facilitate greater ease, efficiency and order in consummating M&A transactions. Arising from this, MMAA fittingly fills the crucial role of fostering the development of the M&A market in Malaysia.
