SJCC was formally inaugurated by Sri Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister of Kerala in the presence of the founder, His Grace Mar Joseph Powathil (Archbishop Emeritus) on 2nd July, 2005.
The growing importance of the media and the desire of the Archdiocese of Changanassery to form excellent communicators with the right attitude have resulted in the establishment of Media Village. Media Village was dedicated to the nation by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India in order to provide right media vision to all with a well set goal of creating a value based media culture.
It is this vision that has resulted in the forming of St Joseph College of Communication, the flagship unit of Media Village.
The College is open to all students irrespective of caste and creed; they are accepted and cherished as they are and are helped to grow in their cultural, social and religious tradition.
It also aims at creating a just and humane society where dignity of the human person is respected, and unjust social structures are challenged, where a cultural heritage of Ahimsa, religious harmony and national integration are upheld, and the poor and the downtrodden are specially taken care of.
Vision
St Joseph College of Communication is founded with the vision of transforming media to create a wholesome world. It can be realised only when people with right skills, aptitude, attitude and perspective are ready to devote their career to serve the society through media.
Hence our mission is to bring forth creative, constructive and positive changes in the media industry by providing talented media professionals with sound knowledge, high level of technical competence, right vision and high regard for moral and spiritual values.
We aim at and are dedicated to the integral development of every student enrolled here and we strive hard to mould professionals who can inculcate values through visuals.
Mission
SJCC is committed to the mission of providing trained professionals with personal and professional integrity to the media and entertainment industries.
Professionals with integrity means well qualified and skilled people who can utilise their knowledge, skills and talents for the betterment of the society; who can uphold the moral values and stand for the right; who can give voice to the voiceless; in whom there is no dichotomy between what he/she believes and what he/she does.
