You also learn to share information about yourself, discuss your family and ask basic questions of those around you allowing you to function in everyday settings.
The use of Pin-Yin, the rendition of Chinese characters in the Latin alphabet, facilitates the learning process for students at the elementary level. Native-speaking instructors provide you with insight into the culture, traditions and etiquette of China.
Course Format

A study of the basic skills of Mandarin Chinese – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – as well as the cultural context in which they are used.
The Chinese (Manderin and Cantonese) International Language Elementary and Secondary Credit Program provides language and cultural instruction for elementary students and International language credit classes at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School.
At this level, you will learn Pinyin, a writing system that uses the Roman letters you are already familiar with and shows you the correct intonation for each sound, and you will also begin to learn Chinese characters.
Mandarin course is offered by Greater Essex County District School Board. Our courses are taught by highly qualified and experienced teacher who are extremely dedicated to ensuring you leave with all the necessary skills to broaden your horizons and never be lost for words again.
Mandarin is offered at St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Centers for all skill level.Â
