A study of the basic skills of Mandarin Chinese – speaking, listening, reading, and writing – as well as the cultural context in which they are used. Note: Students with previous knowledge of Mandarin cannot take this course for credit.

At this level, you will learn Pinyin, a writing system that uses the Roman letters you are already familiar with and shows you the correct intonation for each sound, and you will also begin to learn Chinese characters.
The Chinese (Manderin and Cantonese) International Language Elementary and Secondary Credit Program provides language and cultural instruction for elementary students and International language credit classes at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Elementary School.
Mandarin is offered at St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Centers for all skill level.
Mandarin course is offered by Greater Essex County District School Board. Our courses are taught by highly qualified and experienced teacher who are extremely dedicated to ensuring you leave with all the necessary skills to broaden your horizons and never be lost for words again.
This course is a very basic introduction to the Mandarin language. You will learn “survival” words and phrases, and receive ear training for Mandarin tones to become aware of how the meaning of words change in Mandarin.
