Manual Handling

The Manual Handling course is designed to give learners a strong understanding of the correct ways to move and handle objects, as well as recognising the importance of Manual Handling in ensuring a safer work environment.

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

• Define the term ‘Manual Handling’.

• Explain the responsibilities of the employer to control risks and the employee to follow procedures.

• Describe manual handling activities which present a high level of risk.

• Identify different injuries caused by improper manual handling.

• Explain the terms hazard and risk.

• Describe the manual handling assessment process.

• Explain ways of reducing injuries.

• Demonstrate the correct technique for lifting and carrying objects.
