The purpose of this course is to provide participants with necessary skills and practical knowledge to shift loads using manual handling methods, including assessing the risks associated with relocating the load, planning the relocation process and carrying out the relocation in accordance with the plan.
Manual handling tasks are responsible for over 35% of compensationable injuries within Australian workplaces.
This Nationally Recognised training equips participants with skills and knowledge to shift loads using manual handling methods, including planning, risk assessment and relocating the load according to the plan.
It includes compliance with safety legislation and principles of safe lifting. It also covers moving loads as part of day-to-day work, performed under some supervision, generally within a team environment.
The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises.
While the training for the enrolled units is delivered concurrently, each Unit of competency is assessed as a discrete unit.
Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
