Manual Handling Techniques

This programme is designed for any person(s) who are involved in manual handling in the workplace i.e. Employers, Managers, Supervisors or Operatives

Course Aim

To provide delegates with a thorough understanding of how to minimise the risk of injury to themselves and others by increasing awareness of potential manual handling hazards in the workplace and their outcomes.

• Health & Safety at work etc Act 1974

• Manual handling regulations

• Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations

• Accident statistics

• The functions of the spine and muscular system

• Typical injuries

• Hazard identification and assessment of:

  • the task

  • The load

  • The working environment

  • Individual capabilities

• Correct handling techniques

• Practical exercises and tuition

Training Methods

• Classroom based tutorials including discussion, group exercises, supporting videos and commentary. Practical exercises.

Methods of Assessment:

• Written assessment

• Practical assessment

Qualification/Certification

• NPORS or “In House” Certification

Duration:

• 1 Day or ½ Day

Location:

• On your premises

• Or at one of our sites in South of England.

Additional Information:

For employers requiring plastic cards, an additional charge of £5.00 per person will be levied. Delegates will need to provide a passport photograph at the start of the course.

NPORS Registration is at £17.50 per person.

For training held at your own location please ensure you make available a suitable room, which can comfortably accommodate with seating the number of delegates attending. We will also require a 240v power supply.
