In tune with the New Education Policy 2020 and in line with the UGC Guidelines on multiple entry-exit, credit norms and national higher education qualification framework, the MA Economics Programme has been restructured.
The programme is being offered in semester mode consisting of four semesters of 20 credits each. Thus, the total credits of the programme are 80 credits. While all the courses in first, second and third semester are compulsory, in the fourth semester student may opt any area of specialization out of the four groups (A-Data Analytics, B-Energy and Environmental Economics, C-Insurance and Finance, D-Social Policy) by completing 20 credit courses from that particular group. The student not willing to have specialization may opt any 20 credit courses out of the four groups (A,B,C,D). The programme aims to develop the abilities of the learners to explain the functioning of the economy and enhance their analytical skills to enable them to get the jobs in the market.

The Regional Centre, Delhi-I was established in the year 1989 as the ‘Delhi Regional Centre’. Subsequently, after the establishment of another Regional Centre in Delhi and bifurcation of jurisdictional area in 1998, this Regional Centre was re-christened as ‘Delhi-I’. The jurisdictional area of Delhi-I was further divided after the establishment of yet another Regional Centre at Dwarka (Delhi-III) in 2008.
This Regional Centre is among the first generation Regional Centres of the University. As such it has been witness to and an active participant in the process of evolution, growth and periodic modification to suit the changing requirement of the ODL system as also increased expectation from all concerned. The Regional Centre is among the high enrollment centres of the county serving a large population of the students from different strata of society.
It has been enrolling more than 85,000 learners every year. Extensive academic and administrative support is provided to the enrolled students through a network of 31 Learner Support Centres located in its jurisdictional area. The areas under the jurisdiction of the Regional Centre are : Mehrauli, Chanakyapuri, Lodhi Colony, South Extension, R K Puram, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Saket, Green Park, Lajpat Nagar, Greater Kailash, Malviya Nagar, Bhogal, Ashram, Hauz Khas, Munirka, Okhla, Sangam Vihar, Friends Colony, Badarpur including adjoining areas and Faridabad and Palwal districts of Haryana.
Various initiatives have been taken to provide effective support services to the learners as also to strengthen it. Some of these are :
Establishment of an exclusive Student Support Centre (SSC)
Single-window facility for processing various requests
Maintaining comprehensive student database at SSC for speedy handling of queries
Confirmation letters sent to students carries important information about various schedules and activities
Organising Student Interactive sessions at the Regional Centre for getting direct feedback
Updated information pertaining to admission, re-admission,material despatch, project evaluation etc. made available on the website of the Regional Centre
Organising Orientation Programmes for academic counsellors
Regular visits to learner support centres to ensure that students get quality academic support
