Course Details

It is a semester-based post-graduation program with a total of four semesters spanning two years. Economics is a blend of ‘core economic theory' and 'econometrics', powered by effective ‘analytical technique to be used in specific settings.

It is a systematic synthesis of keen observations, theoretical appraisal of problems, and the development of statistical methods. The system of pedagogy entails tools like - econometrics, statistics, data analysis, simulations, case studies, historical analogy, vernacular aids, field study, and community-based research.

The program takes several software packages and data sources to make education apt and efficient. On one hand, it fills the gap between curriculum at bachelor and master degree levels and on the other,it encourages the students to take the hands on challenges offered by industry. Thus, the course in the MASTER OF ARTS (M.A.) in Economics has been designed to equip students with the knowledge of economic theory and research and its application in its present context. Apart from equipping students with the knowledge of economics, it provides techniques of data analysis and logical and critical thinking.

After the successful completion of M.A. Economics program, the students will be able:

  • [PSO.3]. Delivering students an in-depth knowledge into special fields of choice like agricultural economics, game theory, monetary economics, environmental economics, development economics, international trade, urban economics, econometrics, mathematical economics, and other upcoming fields.
  • [PSO.4]. Better employability through skill building in quantitative research, computation packages, add-on courses, MOOCs, capstone projects and compulsory Internship programme.

Note: The above approved POs and PSOs will be applied for new course handouts applicable as per Course Structure of 2023 as well as with retrospective effect for higher semesters.
