The Master of Finance is a specialist degree for graduates who have completed a finance major in their undergraduate studies and now want to take on more advanced topics. It has been developed in close consultation with the finance sector and exposes you to the latest thinking and research in finance.

You'll be taught by industry-leading academics and researchers, gaining a competitive advantage in your financial career via the latest theories and practical techniques. 

 

Who Should Choose This Degree? 

Finance graduates looking for an advanced qualification in finance, as well as professionals wanting to increase their finance knowledge are best suited to study this degree.

 

Entry Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) with a credit average (65% or higher) as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator; and
  • A major (at least seven courses) in finance within the bachelor degree; and
  • A credit average (65% or higher) within the finance major, as determined by the UNSW Postgraduate Coursework Entry Calculator

 

Program Structure:

Specialise your qualification to your career goals. You’ll study four advanced core topics that cover financial theory and policy, risk management for financial institutions, and empirical studies, techniques and applications. 

 

Then choose a specialisation from the following:  

  • Corporate Finance and Investment Banking: understand capital markets for financial institutions 
  • Finance (General): select from a broad variety of electives based on applied finance and financial statements 
  • Funds Management: includes advanced portfolio management and modelling, real estate investment, securities and derivatives and more 
  • Financial Technology: explore cryptocurrencies and financial market data
