The program provides the critical decision-making, managerial, practical, analytical, technical, and leadership skills necessary for success in today’s global hospitality and tourism environment.
Through the Regynald G. Washington Master of Global Hospitality Management program, students become completely adept at using the latest technologies to drive innovation across all hospitality sectors.
In addition to taking six core courses covering the foundations of the hospitality field, students pursue a career track addressing the need for visionary talent who can handle constant change and spearhead data-driven solutions.
Career Tracks
Hotel Development
Commercial real estate is inseparable from the hotel landscape. In fact, it is an overwhelmingly prominent component of a hotel’s value. In addition to property owners, operations staff such as general managers are now increasingly sensitive to decisions enhancing a hotel's value.
This track equips students with skills in hotel investment, acquisition, appraisal, asset management, consulting, feasibility and capital formation. Students also explore the use of AI in hotel and revenue management as well as digital concierges.
Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Disruptive innovations have sparked massive opportunities in the hospitality arena. Hotel owners are eager to entice guests with novel products and services, and to embrace automation—a formerly taboo term in an industry that viewed customer service as primarily human-centric. Plus, the "ghost kitchen" concept has turned the restaurant space on its head, shaking the definition of a dining experience to its core.
Hospitality professionals must adapt by reaching customers with new technologies, marketing strategies, and distribution mechanisms. This career track will train such pioneers.
Fintech Innovation
Hoteliers and restaurant owners had no choice but to adopt contactless check-in and payment options amidst a global pandemic. Now customers expect digital options to be the permanent norm. But along with the huge convenience factor of e-wallets come issues such as client no-shows, processing errors, and fraud.
Hospitality professionals are looking for a centralized fintech platform allowing customers to register and verify their credit card information, as the cost of implementation is too high for any single hotel.
This certificate will enable students to understand how fintech will inevitably change and improve how hospitality professionals conduct business.
Artificial Intelligence Business Innovation
Hospitality businesses can harness AI to streamline customer relationship management and optimize revenues. After all, large amounts of hospitality transaction data are available to be scoured and interpreted using machine learning and predictive analytics tools.
Through this career track, students will cover key technical aspects and explore the sociological and ethical implications of AI.
