Georgetown’s Master of Professional Studies in Project Management prepares you to successfully plan, manage, and execute even the most complex projects.

  • Our program brings together focused coursework and practical, hands-on experience. You’ll have opportunities to practice your skills through real-world case studies and expand your network with some of the industry’s leading organizations.
  • Ideal for working professionals, our program offers flexible options to take classes online, on campus, or through a combination of both—so you don’t have to interrupt your career to earn your degree.
  • Our emphasis on leadership skills and communication best practices prepares you to align any project with your organization’s strategy and integrate across organizational boundaries to solve problems and achieve enterprise goals and objectives. You’ll gain a deeper understanding across the project management lifecycle while mastering the key strategies needed to manage risk, minimize costs, control scope, and incorporate research insights into the planning and management process.
  • Importantly, our program has been reviewed and approved as a provider of project management training by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • You will learn the differences and similarities between agile and traditional project management through experiential learning and hands-on coursework aligned with the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). You'll utilize real-world scenarios and simulation software to master the project lifecycle from start to finish, including fundamental project management concepts such as a project charter, components of a project management plan, a work breakdown structure (WBS), and a risk management plan.
  • By the end of the program, you’ll understand how to balance competing demands, build and manage a team, and lead projects that add value to your organization.

To earn an MPS in Project Management, you must successfully complete 10 courses (30 credits total), including:

2 core courses (6 credits total):

  • Ethics
  • Capstone

5 foundation courses (15 credits total):

  • Project Management Fundamentals
  • Agile Fundamentals
  • Project Initiation & Planning
  • Project Execution & Delivery
  • Communication & Collaboration for Managers

3 elective courses (9 credits total):

You’ll have the flexibility to earn your degree at a pace that suits your schedule:

  • Full-time students typically take 9 credits (3 courses) during the fall and spring semesters. 
  • Part-time students typically take 3 to 6 credits (1 to 2 courses) during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Although students are not required to take credits during the summer semester, they have the option of registering for one or more courses in order to continue their progress year-round.
