This course will familiarize the student with the role of a medical documentation specialist, how to recognize and utilize appropriate reference material, identify and understand terminology within a healthcare setting, describe a health record, and proofread medical reports.
This course will familiarize the student with the role of a medical documentation specialist, how to recognize and utilize appropriate reference material, identify and understand terminology within a healthcare setting, describe a health record, and proofread medical reports.
Students will relate their knowledge of anatomical and pathological terms to medical documents and apply skills necessary for excellence in transcription. Students will transcribe dictated material using various medical report templates. Keyboarding activity built in to measure productivity.

The Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG) has announced a new model for transcript production where court transcripts will be produced and certified by independent, authorized court transcriptionists.
This course will enhance the learning achieved in previous and prerequisite courses for medical transcription that students need to enter the field with confidence
In Ontario, court transcripts are produced and certified by independent, authorized court transcriptionists. A list of authorized court transcriptionists is available to the public and members of the legal profession.
This course integrates medical terminology, anatomy, abbreviations, pharmacology, and medical transcription techniques to produce accurate medical documents for a variety of different medical settings.
Introduction to Medical Transcription provides students with an understanding of medical documents and how to create them. Students learn the fundamental concepts of all aspects of medical transcription.
