Open to everyone, these courses explore a specific topic in more depth, and are suitable for all levels of experience, including beginners. Kadampa Meditation Centre Auckland is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to create peace and harmony within our world. We hold a variety of inspiring classes throughout Auckland so that everyone, whether Buddhist or non-Buddhist, can discover the benefits of meditation and modern Buddhism for themselves. In-depth weekly study programmes, chanted prayers and retreats are also provided for people who want to deepen their understanding.
What is Modern Buddhism?
Buddhist meditation techniques have been practised by people for thousands of years. We offer a modern presentation of Buddhism that enables people with busy lives to experience deep and lasting happiness.
The instructions given at our classes are grounded in ancient wisdom and have been handed down in an unbroken lineage since the time of Buddha. Revitalised by contemporary Meditation Master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, especially for the people of the modern world, our classes offer practical methods for solving the real-world problems we face, as well as scientific methods for improving our human nature and qualities through developing the capacity of our mind.
Everybody Welcome
Our classes are open to everybody, regardless of background, including those who are just curious about meditation or Buddhism. Anyone can benefit from these practical instructions for living a more peaceful, joyful life.
No special clothing is necessary, and we usually meditate in chairs, making it accessible and comfortable for everyone. We are a member of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union.

This course will explore various approaches to pain and/or stress-management through mindfulness-meditation, with guided meditation-relaxation practices, and gentle movement (based on yoga, T’ai Chi and Qigong). We also look at pacing in daily life, and will cover how to keep an activity diary.
