Course Details

The nationally accredited Operate a Work Platform (WP) course is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills to operate a boom-type elevating work platform over 11 meters safely in the construction, mining, manufacturing and related industries.

Boom-type elevating work platform means a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device, or any combination of these, used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated.

A person performing this work is required to hold a boom-type elevating work platform high-risk work (HRW) licence.

This course can also be completed in combination with the High-Risk Licence Forklift or the EWPA Yellow card course.

Basic English language, literacy and numeracy (This is a Workplace Health and Safety requirement as students are assessed against the Qld State WHS standards to be awarded their licence).

The High Risk Licence Elevated Work platform (EWP) (WP) course for over 11 metre booms has training and assessment that is competency-based.

The duration of the Forklift course depends on the learners’ previous experience, access to a machine, and time availability. The forklift course can be completed as a full course, a logbook course, or as a previous experience course. Each type, of course, has a different length of course times that are determined by the learner and their experience.
