Course Details

This course specifies the outcomes required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) for licensing purposes, and involves the operation of a telescoping device, hinged device, or articulated device or any combination of these used to support a platform on which personnel, equipment and materials may be elevated to perform work.

The 11 metre boom length shall be taken to mean the greater of the following:

The course will be based on theoretical sessions, written assessment, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises

In undertaking the written component of the Assessment Instrument WorkSafe does not permit, under any circumstances, an interpreter to be used and requires that applicants attempt the written examination in their own hand.

Being able to write answers to the written questions is an essential means of demonstrating to the assessor that they can read the English language. However, when marking written assessments assessors can seek verbal clarification/enhancement of questions not fully answered.

WorkSafe also wishes to confirm that all written assessments for HRWLs must be 'closed book' in that applicants must not have access to any information.
