Mindful Self-Compassion

This one day in person course will provide practical experiential practices of mindfulness in relation to self-compassion that are part of a lifelong adventure. We will learn the key principles and practices of self-compassion in a heartfelt and nurturing way. These practices enhance our wellbeing and cope better with life's challenges.

What is the course about?

You will be introduced to a range of mindfulness meditation practices in relation to self-compassion during the day which is mainly experiential. The course will explore the themes in a heartfelt, nurturing way that uses meditations, experiential exercises, group discussions and audio visuals.

What will we cover?

  • - What is mindful self-compassion
  • - What self-compassion is not
  • - Difference between self-compassion and self esteem
  • - Benefits of self-compassion
  • - Brief understanding of the science around how self-compassion works
  • - Mindful self-compassion practices
  • - Other forms of self-compassion exercises: supportive touch, journaling, compassionate break, who would you treat a friend.
  • - Bringing mindfulness and self-compassion into daily life
  • - Meeting difficult emotions and shame
  • - Motivating ourselves with kindness rather than self-criticism
  • - Practising the art of savouring and self-appreciation
  • - Self-compassion in relationships
  • - Self-compassion and forgiveness
  • - Embracing the good and self-appreciation.

  • - Have an understanding of what self-compassion is
  • - Identify a range of mindful self-compassion practices
  • - Explore which mindful self-compassion practices work best for you and how to incorporate in daily life

  • - Transform difficult relationships
  • - Identify how to make this a life skill and how to become your own best teacher.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is suitable for beginners to meditation and those who want to renew or refresh their practice. It introduces a range of topics in the area of mindfulness and how these practices relate to developing self-compassion.
Proficiency in English is important. Openness to reflect, be more courageous and willing intention would be helpful. Being in a small group setting will allow us to find that common humanity.
