About UCS
The University of Portsmouth and Sparsholt College created ‘University Centre Sparsholt’ in December 2016 as the new name for the College’s Higher Education programmes, which are validated by the University of Portsmouth.
Sparsholt College has been offering Higher Education since the late 1970s and has worked with the University of Portsmouth, its validating university, since the early 1980s. Becoming a University Centre allowed the College to convey more clearly the quality and standards associated with these courses and differentiates them as university level programmes which was further consolidated by its achievement of a TEF Gold award in June 2018. University Centre Sparsholt has continued to flourish offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Agriculture, Animal Science and Zoo Biology, Equestrian Science and Performance Management, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Studies, Veterinary Nursing Science and Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. In 2022, UCS has introduced its first Higher Apprenticeship Standard, Countryside Ranger.

Most of us have experienced stress at some time in our lives and I think we would all agree that a certain amount of stress is unavoidable, even useful, but when it reaches a certain level, we can feel tired, tense, overwhelmed and no longer in control.
In these busy times, our schedules are often tough and difficult to cope with and this can cause stress, unhappiness and depression. These issues can be help mitigated with mindfulness which simply means ‘being in the moment’.
Too much to do and not enough time to do it? Feel under pressure and have difficulty switching off? You don’t need me to tell you that the pace of work today can be relentless - and it doesn’t look like easing up anytime soon.
