This course provides a highly accessible, engaging and practical introduction to mindfulness. You will learn skills to enable you to apply mindfulness to your life, to focus your attention and make skilful, mindful choices.
Who is this course for?
This course provides a highly accessible, engaging and practical introduction to mindfulness. You will learn skills to enable you to apply mindfulness to your life, to focus your attention and make skilful, mindful choices.
You will develop knowledge and learn strategies to improve wellbeing and resilience to stress. Mindfulness can help you to manage aspects of your life which may be painful or difficult and to appreciate the pleasant things in your life more fully, offering you a wider perspective.
To maximise your learning and the benefits of the course, practice of the mindful activities that you have learnt for up to an hour each day between sessions is advised. The Tutor will send you information and audio recordings for these activities each week.
These independent activities will include the following: meditation practices, keeping a journal and exploring ways to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday life.
What will I need to bring?
For online sessions you will need a computer, laptop or tablet. You will need speakers, a microphone and a camera linked to your device. You might find it easier to have a headset/headphones to help you listen and speak.
You will be sent an electronic invite to join the online sessions, which will be on Microsoft Teams, this will be sent a few days before the session date with further instructions.

Funded by the Education and Funding Agency, Leicestershire Adult Learning Service (LALS) provides formal and informal learning programmes for all adults across the County of Leicestershire.
LALS is a service within Leicestershire County Council’s Adults and Communities department. Our programmes are delivered at venues across the County, including Adult Learning centres, libraries, community centres, and some courses are also offered online. The service is regulated by Ofsted and is currently graded a GOOD service provider.
