Based on modern psychology and ancient philosophy, mindfulness meditation is for anyone who'd like to have some fresh insights into what makes up our quality of life.
Description
Meditation can help us with life’s challenges and is a wise way to work with strong emotions and stress, as well as enlivening the ordinary times. It’s simple and doesn’t need any special resources.
Often learning to meditate is presented as something esoteric and mysterious but really it should be a straightforward thing based on our everyday experience.
Come along to this course and learn how to put a meditation practice in place in your life. You’ll be introduced to some different meditation and mindfulness techniques and get an insight into the modern psychology and the ancient wisdom that supports a meditation practice.
The four sessions will provide time to practise different styles of meditation, lots of hints about a fruitful approach to take to set up a regular practice in your life and opportunities to discuss progress with others in the group.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
Describe some ways in which modern psychology and ancient wisdom support meditation
Understand what you need to do to make time for meditation in your life
Describe practical tips to make meditation fruitful
Practise different kinds of guided and silent meditation
Find resources (books, on-line information, other classes and retreats) to support your meditation
Bring a notepad and pen.
Note:
Courses need a minimum number to go ahead so if we don't have enough enrolments a few days before the start date, we have to cancel. We'll let you know by email so please check yours regularly.
