MMA Has Evolved
Mixed Martial Arts is no longer a collection of different hand to hand combat systems such as Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing and Judo . It has evolved into an art form of its own.
Wrestling forms an extremely vital component of our MMA training at Storm Combat. Cage work, clinch work and takedowns depend on good wrestling skills, besides which, Wrestlers are the hardest people to take down and pin down.
It is not enough to simply cobble a few martial arts together and call it MMA. It has become a unique combat sport with a unique methodology.

Storm Combat is formally affiliated to Quan Wessels - highly regarded, recognised industry leaders in MMA.
As an affiliate of Quan Wessels, Storm Combat implements Professor Richie Quan and ‘Chef’ Norman Wessels’ unique training methodologies which combines the old ideas of martial arts with a new-found creativity in martial arts evolution.
This not only provides cutting edge training for our competition athletes but also provides a formal grading system in terms of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Professor Richie Quan and ‘Chef’ Norman Wessels have over many years developed a system of MMA, BJJ and Wrestling, borne of high level international and local sports competition experience.
The success of their system speaks for itself.
If you would like to specialise in Combat Sport, either for recreation, fitness and weight loss purposes or if you would like to train more intensively for competition, we have you covered!
