Create a simple garment while learning how to select and work with woven fabrics, how to read and understand a pattern, your correct size, and techniques to construct a basic skirt. Three versions including wrap, button front or zipper in back.
In this 2 part workshop (6 hours total), you will learn to make your own boxy tee, start to finish. This hands-on beginner class will introduce you to the fundamentals of pattern making.
Our afterschool and school day programs use fashion as a means to introduce children (ages 7–13) to low-tech, hands-on activities using fiber and fabric to develop creative expression that supports student authenticity and self-awareness.
We are dedicated to providing our students with a comprehensive education in the world of fashion, from basic sewing skills to advanced fashion design techniques.
Students learn how to manipulate basic block patterns (called slopers) to create an infinite number of styles. We teach both the pivotal transfer and slash and spread methods for creating any silhouette from a basic pattern as well as the fundamentals of creating your own patterns from scratch.
