Our academics are engaged in research and consultancy work, publishing their findings in textbooks and journals of international standing. Some staff still work the festival circuit and offer a wealth of experience in this field. There are also opportunities for students to work at the festivals through our partnerships.

  • Many events now have an international focus and are organised across cultural, economic and geographical boundaries. Providing a sound theoretical underpinning of the cultural, political, ethical and economic aspects of the sector, this course will develop the practical and strategic knowledge required to run international events effectively.
  • Guest speakers from industry will share their expertise and insights through a series of lectures. These events, combined with case studies and field trips, will keep the course contemporary and industry focused.
  • Studying alongside UK and overseas students on the course will inspire your learning. You will be encouraged to share your experiences and trade cultural insights with your peers, helping you to refine your understanding of events management across the world so you can excel in your career.

Teaching & Learning

  • Independent study is a crucial part of learning at university and you will be required to undertake many hours of self-directed research and reading, and preparation and writing of assessments. Your course is delivered through a number of modules, which will help you to plan your time and establish a study routine. Outside of your lectures, workshops and tutorials, a range of support is available to assist with your independent study. Our subject-specific librarians will be on hand to direct you to the specialist learning and study-skill resources. You’ll also be assigned an academic advisor to give you tailored feedback and support.
