The National Certificate (Information Technology and Computer Science) is a programme at each of Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the NQF.
DurationThis programme is designed to provide both the theory and practice of Information Technology and Computer Science.
The practical component of study may be offered in a real workplace or in a stimulated workplace environment. It will provide students with an opportunity to experience work situations during the period of study.
Requirements
A year end school report for grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 certificate; or
An NQF Level 1 qualification; or
An approved bridging programme designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2.
The holder of the National Certificate (Information Technology and Computer Science) will be able to:
Test programmes and software applications
Write computer programmes
Install network cables for computer systems
Process computer data
Develop, research, and document computer user requirements

Nkangala TVET College was formed in 2003 with the merger of Witbank, Middelburg, Mpondozankomo, and CN Mahlangu campuses (formerly Technical Colleges) in Nkangala region. Waterval boven Campus was transferred in 2011 from Ehlanzen FET College. The college was formed after the adoption of FET Act of 1996 by Parliament.
The College is the largest educational institution in the Mpumalanga Province, serving the community in the Nkangala region. CN Mahlangu and Waterval Boven are the predominately rural.
This short course will provide students with a real-world understanding of Information Systems (IS) upon which a career can be built. The course curriculum focuses on developing practical skills that equip students to incorporate and manage various aspects of technology in the workplace.
You will develop a broad theoretical foundation in various core areas of information technology such as information systems, computer science, software development, database design and project management.
The purpose of the Diploma in Information Technology is to provide students with a wide spectrum of study covering the breadth of Information Technology.
This field has been growing at a very rapid pace over the last few years, and this growth is expected to remain stable. Thousands of new jobs are being created by IT as we move away from the Information Age and Knowledge Age to the Digital Age.
The information technology and computer science programme covers the interpretation of software applications, as well as the installation of network cables together with information technology principles and data processing.
