CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
A NSW White Card or general construction induction (GIT) card is essential for anyone who work at a construction site and is a mandatory requirement in NSW.
The course is also commonly known as the White Card course and was previously known as the Green Card course. It is designed to assist workers with evaluating worksite hazards/risks and assists workers with reporting workplace incidents to the authorities correctly.
General white card training course aims to provide awareness and understanding of rights and responsibilities under WHS law to identify common hazards and risks associated with the construction industry, basic risk management principles, and the standard of behaviour expected of workers on construction sites.
Who Should Enrol for this Course?
If you are someone that conducts any construction work or someone who is visiting construction sites as part of their employment, then this course is for you.
This training is a mandatory requirement under the Work Health Safety Regulation 2017 for those:
carrying out construction work in NSW, including site managers, supervisors, surveyors, architects, labourers, tradespersons
people who access operational construction zones unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person, and
other workers whose employment causes them to routinely enter construction zones, e.g., security officers working on construction sites.
Course Structure
The course is taught in a classroom and does not require any pre-study. The duration of the classroom-based study is 6 hours (this does not include any breaks or time required for administration tasks).
Course Content
The competency unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is a training program that provides workers in the construction industry with an awareness and understanding of:
their rights and responsibilities under Work Health and Safety law;
common hazards and risks in the construction industry;
basic risk management principles; and
the standard of behaviour expected of workers on construction sites.
