The programme is integrated with aviation theory and practical flying experience and provides a solid grounding in all technical and regulatory aspects of flying an aircraft.
The programmes have been developed to prepare students for responsible positions in the aviation industry, including flying in various single-engine and multi-engine aircraft, pilot and staff instruction, and airline operations. The formal certificate awarded to graduates after satisfactorily completing the NZ Diploma in Aviation will be Level 5 or 6.
Air Hawke’s Bay can trace its history in flight training back more than 90 years. Over the years we’ve grown to become a specialist in providing full-time integrated pilot training for both domestic and international students.
Air Hawke’s Bay was also the first New Zealand training provider to be accredited with CAA Part 141 certificate, which allows us to teach international students who want to become commercial pilots in other parts of the world.
Our flight school now has more than 15 flight instructors and the capability and accreditations for advanced level aviation training. All training, both academic and practical takes place in our facilities at the Hastings Aerodrome.
The aim of this course is to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve and Commercial Pilots Licence with type and instrument ratings (entitling the holder to legally operate an aircraft in New Zealand for commercial purposes)
The New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (aeroplane), level 6, was developed by ServiceIQ in close conjunction with the aviation industry and education authorities. It was designed to address issues around the effectiveness and consistency of pilot training in New Zealand
This NZQA approved qualification covers the syllabus requirements for the CPL MEIR programme along with ATPL (Human Factors, Meteorology), Basic Gas Turbine, Dangerous Goods course and Winter Flying ground course.
This course would ideally suit those students that wish to pursue a career as a Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor or as a pathway to build hours towards an Airline Career.
