Open water swimming is the fastest growing sport worldwide and due to increasing popularity, there is a risk that lifeguards without all of the skills they need maybe asked to lifeguard open water.
The Open Water Lifeguard qualification enables candidates with no previous lifeguard experience to become qualified. By attaining this qualification candidates will have been assessed as competent to provide supervision and rescue cover for planned, organised and risk-assessed activities in open water (still, non-tidal).
The Open Water Lifeguard Qualification delivered over three days, is valid is 2 years and is independently assessed

The training and assessment for the module is split into three sections:
Section 1 – The Open Water Lifeguard, environment, hazards and supervision
Section 2 – Responding to an emergency and taking action
Section 3 – CPR and First Aid
Assessment Process
Assessment for the OWL takes place at the end of the course. It determines your knowledge and understanding of the principles of working as a Open Water lifeguard and assesses your ability to apply the skills and knowledge to keep people safe in open water.
The assessment is split into three sections:

We deliver a wide range regulated training courses (RQF) in Lifeguard, First Aid and Health & Safety. The courses can be delivered onsite or candidates can join in courses being delivered at one of venues.
Our Trainer/Assessors
The Trainers/Assessors background is working in the leisure industry and has been trained through the Royal Life Saving Society UK trainer/assessor or Swim Teachers Association Trainer Assessor programmes.
The training to achieve this level is rigorous and relevant to the industry which we work, we are accountable for the lifeguards we have trained.Every trainer has excellent occupational knowledge and hold the required skills and qualifications.

Active Training Network Ltd is an approved training centre for IOSH health & safety training courses.
The course is comprised of two units. Unit One, includes first aid, CPR and water rescue skills. Unit Two will determine your ability to apply the skills and knowledge acquired in Unit One to a work-related environment.
This training course acknowledges the critical importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals, especially young people, from the harmful influence posed by these criminal activities.
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the official Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) qualification required for lifeguards.
Course designed for those needing a higher level of water safety and rescue training. Learners will cover hydrology, wading, swimming (aggressive & defensive), knots, anchors, pulleys, lowers, vectors, tethered rescues, running rescues, safety systems, welfare and medical considerations, and PPE.
This course is ideal for learners who would like to work as a lifeguard in a swimming pool or leisure centre in a pool supervision capacity.
