Description

This unit covers the competency required to implement an emergency response plan and has been developed to cover a broad range of emergencies and workplaces.

Participants will learn to prepare workplace emergency procedures; alert and report potential workplace emergencies; evaluate the need to evacuate a work area; prepare for an evacuation; and assist people who may require assistance

 

Course Content As an Emergency Warden:

  • Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
  • Initiate and control initial emergency response activities
  • Anticipate the further development of emergencies
  • Communicate and coordinate emergency response activities under the direction of the Chief Emergency Warden
  • Assist with post emergency activities

 

Prerequisites

There are no specific pre-requisites for this course. Learners must be over 18 years of age.

 

Assessment

The theory assessment consists of multiple choice and short answer questions. The practical assessment will require Learners to demonstrate the ability to respond in an emergency (report, signal and warnings) appropriately;

  • To supply clear directions under emergency conditions; to make decisions appropriate to the situation;
  • To keep others appropriately informed of the status of an emergency and/or their action;
  • And to take on a leadership role consistent with the emergency control organisation.
