Our nationally accredited Breathing Apparatus training courses are designed for employees who may be required to utilise Breathing Apparatus equipment - in areas such as a confined space, with hazardous gases/vapours, in an anoxic atmosphere or for other applications requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus.

This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team.

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for operators who are required to wear breathing apparatus because they are working:

• In a confined space

• With hazardous gases/vapours

• In an oxygen deficient atmosphere

• In other situations requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus

 Operators may also be required to wear breathing apparatus in emergency situations, however, this is not the focus of this training program.

Candidates who attend this course will wear Breathing Apparatus, be taught operating procedures and will observe a high emphasis on safety and emergency procedures.

Additional Information:

  • AS2865 requires re-assessment at appropriate intervals. Industry recommendation is every 2 years.
  • Candidates MUST be clean shaven as per AS1715 Sect. 4.4.3.1 Facial Fit, General.


PPE Requirements

Enclosed footwear, long pants and a sleeved shirt are required at Baseline Training courses.

 

Entry Requirements

  • Pre-Requisite Unit - There are no formal entry requirements stipulated for this program

  • Fitness Requirement - Training and assessment involves moderate to high physical activity. Candidates are required to be able to freely walk, bend and twist, perform safe lifting techniques and be familiar with typical workplace risk and safety protocols

  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills - Candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills

  • Additional Information - Candidates MUST be clean shaven as per AS1715 Sect. 4.4.3.1 Facial Fit, General

 

Course Benefits And Methods

Upon successful completion of this course, each candidate will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Candidates who attend this course will wear Breathing Apparatus, be taught operating procedures and will observe a high emphasis on safety and emergency procedures.

The assessments for this program have been designed to assess a candidate’s competence in accordance with the relevant endorsed Training Packages, applicable Legislation & Australian Standards and the proprietary requirements of the organisation or workplace.

The assessments will consist of both written and practical components.

 Half Day program | Classroom based or onsite workplace training

• Delivery consists of face to face and practical simulation
