Who is this course suitable for?
This course is for operators who are required to wear breathing apparatus because they are working:
in a confined space
with hazardous gases/vapours
in an oxygen deficient atmosphere
in other situations requiring the wearing of breathing apparatus.
Operators may also be required to wear breathing apparatus in emergency situations, however, this is not the prime focus of this unit. This course of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team or group and working in liaison with other shift team members and the control room operator, as appropriate.
Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will receive a Statement of Attainment.
Course Assessments
Competency is obtained through both theory and practical assessments. The practical assessment requires you to demonstrate the skills required to be deemed competent. The theory assessment will be undertaken in a written form.
If you feel you will be disadvantaged by undertaking a written assessment, please discuss with your trainer/assessor prior to the beginning of the time for the theory assessment.
