  • Apply techniques and approaches of operations management to solve practical operations management problems;
  • Critically analyse and evaluate the advantage and disadvantage of different techniques and approaches of operations management.

  • Problem solve on location issues, scheduling;
  • Critically analyse and evaluate on operations performance and strategy, supply network design, process redesign;
  • Develop teamwork on practical cases of operations management;

  • Computer skills on suitable software to solve operations question.

  • Forecasting and long-term capacity management.
  • Production planning and control.
  • Inventory management.
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM).
  • Lean operations.
  • Quality planning and control.
  • Project management.

Teaching and learning methods

  • The module consists of two lectures per week for 12 weeks and a total of 10 classes including computer workshops. Classes are in the form of small-group tutorials and will include group exercises, presentations, discussion of case studies, problem sheets.
