While this code has been based on the existing New Zealand Standard (NZS/ASME/ANSI B56.1 Safety standard for low and high lift trucks), any other standard providing an equal or better standard recognized and approved by Standards New Zealand, will be acceptable.

This second issue of what has become known as the 'Forklift Code of Practice', is intended to correct some anomalies and printing errors in the first edition. The reasons for the revision of this Code are:
