Fire is one of the devastating and deadly event if occurred and not controlled properly. The fire can start anywhere in the office, at the workplace, at a public place, in the market or at home. It is one of the legal requirements for the employer to take all preventive measures to ensure that the employees and the premises under their control are safe from the risk of fire.

It is observed that these types of hazards are rarely taken very seriously by the employers while this is one of the legal duties towards employer. The consequences of fire incident could be the loss of life, loss of property, loss of business reputation and huge financial loss to the organization in the form of compensation to the person affected, repair and maintenance of the equipment and machinery damaged, renovation of building damaged during the fire incident and the fine imposed on the organization because of non-compliance of legal requirement.

Fire prevention and firefighting training undertaken with the IHSM will develop the knowledge, skill and competence to prevent fire and take all necessary steps to stop fire from turning into a catastrophic incident.

Training Objectives:

The aims and objectives of Fire prevention and firefighting training is to:

• Raise awareness of fire hazards
• Raise awareness of how to respond during a fire emergency.
• Teach people how to prevent fire and protect the life and property against fire.
• Develop the ability to act safely in the event of fire emergency and prevent its spread.
• Be able to select the right type of fire extinguisher to use in the event of fire incident.
• Train the participants in the correct method of using the fire extinguisher etc. are the main objectives of this training.

• Understand the basic component of fire.
• Understand the fire emergency situation.
• How to prevent fire incident.
• How to act in case of fire emergency situation.
• The procedure to call emergency services and raise the alarm.
• Recognize the classes of fire and use of fire extinguisher according to it.
• Know the escape routes, method and procedure.
• How to exit from the building and help people evacuate safety in case of fire emergency.
• Support for the victim if fire breaks out and
• Help save life of someone suffers during a fire emergency.
