Course Details

The course allows students to prepare for and sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane before parking the crane and storing equipment.

Participants in this course will be able to implement controls to reduce hazards/risks and carry out checks and maintenance tasks.

 

Course Content

The course focuses on:

  • How to use a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane
  • Hazards and controls associated with operating a overhead crane
  • The function of critical components, equipment and attachments
  • The care and maintenance of a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane
  • Crane terminology
  • Communication methods
  • Selecting lifting equipment
  • Preparing a range of loads to be lifted, moved, unloaded and placed (min two loads)
  • Parking a crane and storing equipment

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Knowledge of using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
  • Knowledge of radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane components, equipment, and attachments.
  • How to sling, lift, travel, and unload or place regular loads using a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
  • Parking radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane and store equipment.
  • Carrying out daily and weekly operator maintenance of a radio remote or pendant controlled gantry crane.
