Course Details

Overhead crane, commonly called a bridge crane, is a type of crane found in industrial environments. An overhead crane consists of parallel runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap.

A hoist, the lifting component of a crane, travels along the bridge. If the bridge is rigidly supported on two or more legs running on a fixed rail at ground level, the crane is called a gantry crane or a goliath crane.

Unlike mobile or construction cranes, overhead cranes are typically used for either manufacturing or maintenance applications, where efficiency or downtime is critical factors.

Pendant -The pendant gives the operator precise control over the motions of the crane. There are many configurations of pendant depending on the functions of the equipment being controlled. Each pushbutton on the pendent controls an operating function of the crane.

The pendant may be suspended from the Trolley Hoist, requiring the operator to walk with and beside the load, or on a separate sliding track system allowing the operator to move independently of the load.

Radio Control -The radio control performs exactly like the pendant but operates using a radio frequency. The radio control incorporates numerous safety features and allows the operator a greater range of operator motion than a pendant.

Overhead crane (pendant- and/or remote-controlled) training course is designed for both novice and experienced operators. Learners who meet the specific outcomes and assessment criteria will be permitted to operate a code C30 pendant- and/or remote-controlled overhead crane, up to a rated capacity stipulated on the certificate issued.

Overhead crane training course last for 1 day for refresher and 5 days for novice and aims to give the learner all the necessary knowledge to safely operate the crane.

During the course, the candidate will learn to operate the crane safely and completely in line with the specific manufacturers' instructions and industry accepted good practice. Working legally is just as important as working safely, and you can rest assured that candidate will have a thorough understanding of their responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work and all other current relevant legislation.
