Course Details

The overlocker is an important adjunct to your sewing practice, enabling your sewn goods to have a more professional finish.

This course will enable you to develop greater confidence working with your overlocker. You will learn techniques that will help you to work efficiently and professionally from easily threading up to practising a range of overlocking techniques to achieve a professional finish for both woven and knit fabrics.

 

Course Outline: 

  • Introduce threading up and how to change thread colour without fear.
  • Process understanding for overlocking seam types
  • Construct a range of samples to develop confidence with handling skills to achieve a professional finish

 

Please Bring: 

  • Sewing Machine & Overlocker (power cord, foot pedal and instruction manual)
  • Pen & Paper
  • Lunch, snacks & Water bottle
  • Fabric Scissors (optional)
  • Tape Measure
  • Pins
  • Tweezers for threading overlocker
  • Dressmakers Snips (optional)
  • Tailors Chalk 
  • 3 Different Coloured Threads for overlocker
  • 1 thread for sewing machine
  • Half a metre of (scrap) knit fabric
  • 20 – 30 cms of cotton woven fabric (or large’ish) scrap fabric
