The duties of a Passenger Ground Handler (otherwise known as an Airport Customer Service Professional), include taking reservations, issuing tickets, verifying passenger’s identification, checking-in passengers and their baggage, printing boarding passes and directing customers to the correct departure gates.
They are an Airline’s first contact with customers and take care of passengers before, after and/or in between flights. They are responsible for the safety of the passengers in the Terminal building and on the Apron of the airport, as well as to provide excellent Customer service to passengers.
Passenger Ground Handlers should always present a friendly, caring, well-groomed image, as they are important representatives of their Airline. They should be professional; reliable and punctual, as Airlines operate according to strict schedules and procedures.

The Course duration is a minimum of 3 Weeks and takes place at our S.MAB Training Academy. Classes run from Monday to Friday from 0800 – 1530 (Should training take place at an external venue, class times are subject to change).

The National Certificate (Tourism) is a programme at each of Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the NQF.
The programme progresses through three levels. Each N level takes place over one semester. After each semester, students are eligible for a National Certificate on that level. We recommend continuing through all three levels in order to qualify for the National Diploma.
