How to analyze and understand the structure of an existing garment and avoid rookie mistakes!
Various techniques to transfer all the pieces of a garment into a pattern accurately
Afternoon:
Techniques to add seam allowances effectively
Pattern verification techniques
Techniques to identify each piece properly
Please note classes are offered primarily in French. However, we will do our very best to provide english speaking students all the explanations needed in their native language, either by dividing the group or on an individual basis... because we love and embrace Montreal's diversity
Our sewing school was founded in 2011 in response to the lack of sewing classes that were able to meet the needs, realities and aspirations of a new generation of makers.
Our courses are tailor-made to enable our students to explore their creative potential, while acquiring know-how that will be useful on a daily basis in a pleasant environment.
This class will cover knit, purl, working in the round and cable stitches. Using 250g of a super bulky weight yarn, and under the tutelage of Tara B., you will knit up both a hat and a headband with cables, in the round.
Once a week for 4 weeks learn how to read a pattern, cut your fabrics, and put together a complete baby quilt.
This is a perfect course for people with zero sewing experience or for those who have sewn in the past but need a refresher. In 8 classes, you will learn how to use a sewing machine and complete a skirt or PJ pants from a commercial pattern!
In store classes for Learn To Quilt and Learn to Sew are on now and being considered to start again in the fall of 2023. Now, just as it was back in 1983, Carellan’s goal is promoting excellence in home sewing, quilting, and machine embriodery.
During the 4 weeks you will become a verified sewist! All supplies are included-just bring yourself and your own machine if you choose, however we do have Bernina machines to use in our classroom if you wish to use ours.
