Made Institute owner, Rachel Ford, started teaching couture sewing classes out of her live/work loft space in Old City, Philadelphia in 2012. She wanted to share the beautiful techniques she had learned from her 10 years at the Philadelphia Opera to this city's growing number of makers and designers.
This lab course introduces students to Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop as they are used in fashion and textile design. These digital tools allow students to build on fundamental sketching techniques using pixels instead of paint.
Learn how to sew a button-up shirt in our Button-up Shirtmaking Sewing Intensive. Students in this sewing class learn professional shirtmaking techniques including how to install collars, cuffs, plackets, and sleeves.
Sometimes the most frustrating element of sewing is understanding fit. In this class we will take proper body measurements and learn how they correspond with the various pattern brands. We will also learn the terms and techniques commonly used on patterns and how to understand the instructions.
Pattern Making class is offered by EWS Fashion Design Academy for all skill level.
