Made Institute owner, Rachel Ford, started teaching couture sewing classes out of her live/work loft space in Old City, Philadelphia in 2012. She wanted to share the beautiful techniques she had learned from her 10 years at the Philadelphia Opera to this city's growing number of makers and designers.
Students will learn an extensive range of hand stitches, how to shape a garment foundation, design and tailor a variety of pocket styles, design and shape lapels and collars, and how to set structured roped sleeves.
If you’re tired of making ill-fitting clothes from store-bought patterns, this class is for you. In the first four sessions, you’ll learn the basics of pattern making.
In this 2 part sewing and construction workshop (6 hours total), you will learn to sew your own gorgeous and easy to wear midi dress! This dress style incorporates pockets, gathers, a bodice lining and hems and can be worn dress up or dress down
