This course will teach you the foundations of Patternmaking. You will understand the tools needed to create patterns, how to take measurements and of course make blocks. Our fitted bodic block template especially designed by the Academy and manuals are included in the course fee.
To join this course the student needs to have basic sewing knowledge (straight seams, darts, etc.) Most of the materials you will need for this course are in our patternmaking kit. See the tab below for the full list of supplies. Progress further with Intermediate and Advanced Patternmaking.
We aim to provide each student with personalised attention to equip them with the skills and practical experience in the process from concept to design and execution. Personalised attention to individual students in the small tutor to student ratio is vital to the philosophy of the Academy
Learn to fit, sew and finish your clothes successfully or build on the sewing skills you already have (even if you are feeling out of practice). Create your own individual wardrobe using a pattern and fabric of your choice.
Sewing classes are offered by Stitchbird Fabrics for all skill level. We love running Sewing classes at Stitchbird and sharing the joy of creating. We hope you can join us for some of this year's classes. You will need to bring your own sewing machine and fabrics, threads etc to each class.
Learn to sew or to sew better in a small friendly group. Also one on one lessons.
One-off 3 hour workshop will show you how to make your own bucket hat from fabric offcuts and repurposed clothing (ideal for old jeans!).
This class is designed for those who want help learning or reinforcing the basic beginner steps of sewing. It is perfect for any level of beginner, including those who have never touched a machine before!
