Anatomy and physiology
Indications for undertaking ECG
Lead placement and trouble shooting
Simulated practice
Basic interpretation and referral

Confirmation of support from your line manager, access to a supervising practitioner with experience and competence in 12 lead ECG and recording.
All attendees will be required to wear PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) following the current Government guidelines regarding COVID-19. All PPE equipment will be provided on the day.

Tutor assessment throughout the session. Students are provided with a competency profile to use as a framework within their practice to identify suitability to perform venepunctures.

Taking an ECG is a critical skill for any healthcare worker in both primary and secondary care. This course will help you expand your understanding and practical skills for your clinical area, including wards, clinics, primary care and health screening.
To gain theoretical and practical knowledge in order to identify anatomically correct electrode positions and record a diagnostic ECG.
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a diagnostic tool that measures and records the electrical activity of the heart. The training involves hands-on practice on manikins using ECG equipment. The maximum number of people per session is 5.
To provide participants with the knowledge and essential criteria to ensure accurate undertaking and recording of the 12 Lead ECG in line with the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (2017) Guidelines.
