A permit-to-work is a formal written procedure that ensures adequate precautions have been taken before, during, and after the high-risk work activities. The permit-to-work system provides an easy way to keep a constant eye on high-risk activities using a well-proven system to control safety-related issues.

A permit to work form consists of specific instructions on the nature of the job, the time, and the place, along with acceptable information on critical safety procedures to follow.  A permit-to-work system is an essential part of a safe system of work to control high risk work activities.

Types Of Permits To Work:

Hot Work Permit

 It includes soldering, welding, flammable gases, and other heat-inducing operations.

Cold Work Permit

It includes shearing, drawing, mechanically induced bending, and squeezing

Confined Space Work Permit

To perform tasks in confined spaces (shafts, vents, sewages, tanks, and much more).

Height Work Permit

The authorization to work on elevated spaces (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, scaffolds, ladders, and off-the-ground spaces).

Excavation Work Permit

Electrical Isolation Work Permit

The authorization to work in high voltage zones that are susceptible to the uncontrolled prevalence of electricity.

Chemical Work Permit

 An authorization to work in a chemically induced atmosphere that is either corrosive or toxic by nature or to work with harmful chemical substances.
