Permit To Work

This course is designed to acquire the knowledge and skills requirements applicable to a permit to work in terms of hot work; cold work; confined space entry and lockout systems in a work area.

• Requirements for the application of a hot or cold work permit.
  • Authorisation requirements – organizational policies and procedures, the method used for the requisition of equipment, processes and apparatus for maintenance.
  • Methods method used for preparing for maintenance on equipment and or electrical apparatus.
  • Methods used for cancellation of authorisation for maintenance on equipment and or electrical apparatus.
• Methods used for the return of equipment and or electrical apparatus to service. 
  • Requirements to apply a lock-out system.
  • Means to ensure the security of all points of isolation.
  • Methods of access control to restricted areas.
  • Methods for the return of equipment and or electrical apparatus to service
• Requirements are applicable to a confined space entry.
  • Responsibilities of the issuer and receiver of the test permit.
  • Specific requirements for testing the working environment, equipment and/or electrical apparatus before entering a confined space.
  • Responsibilities of the confined space entry permit receiver in terms of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
