Office Communication

This subject also teaches you how to communicate through the use of a telephone, such as the do’s and don'ts of using a telephone at work. You need to have good communication skills as you will be in charge of your supervisor's diary and appointments.
Computer Practice
Here you will get an introduction to computers and learn how to become proficient in using a keyboard.
You will also learn the basics of Windows 7, how to use word processing programmes, as well as Microsoft Excel. This is essential as most of your work as a personal assistant involves using a computer and various software programmes.

Anyone can enroll for this certificate course. All you need is to be able to read and write in English, as well as have an understanding of the language.
Accreditation
This course is a Provider Programme, which means that the course outline, curriculum and study material was developed by Skills Academy. These courses aim to equip you with the skills needed for the workplace, regardless of whether or not you have matric.
Assessment Structure
There are no exams for this course, only assessments. These consist of a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) which is a combination of more than two assignments and a subject test. The pass mark for these assessments is 50%.
For assessments which require students to do Practicals, students may have to do the practicals and take pictures or screenshots of their work if they are doing them on their PCs and submit for marking.
